COTTAGE
Roachside Cottage is situated just yards from the gateway into the beautiful Roaches Estate, a former private estate and grouse moor, now owned by the Peak District national park and cared for by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.
Situated 1100 feet about sea level, Roachside is one of the truly iconic cottages of our gridstone landscape, visible for miles, sitting beneath the Roaches Escarpment. Built from local stone and actually hewn into the bedrock, it has weathered the westerly storms and witnessed spectacular sunsets here for well over 200 years.
We’re lucky enough to own this lovingly restored old quarryman’s cottage. It is situated in the most stunning location, with access onto the crags right outside the door.
This cosy stone built cottage is set below the gritstone outcrops of The Roaches and features two bedrooms, one double and one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds. Downstairs there is a sofa bed that sleeps 2 people. The house comfortably houses 6 people.

Kicthen
There is a good sized kitchen with modern appliances and a table to sit 6 people. We also have a cosy lounge area and a separate snug area which is mostly used for reading or relaxing and admiring the views.

Bathroom
The upstairs bathroom contains a shower, slipper bath (with amazing views over the valley) and toilet.
Heating
Under floor heating makes the cottage a treat to come back to after a breezy day on the moors and the double sided log burner adds to the cosy feel on cold winter evenings.
Parking
There is off road parking for 3 cars in the driveway, a lockable bike store and a panoramic view of the setting sun from the table at the front of the cottage.
Dogs
Two well behaved dogs are welcome at Roachside Cottage on the condition that they are well behaved and are not allowed on the furnishings. You will need to bring your own blankets, towels and any other equipment that you require for your dog.
